About Me:
Greetings, I’m Cherie! I am originally from south Louisiana and now make my home in Austin, Texas. My idea of a good time is feeding people and then sitting around a fire pit with them for hours. I also enjoy yoga, walking, hiking, and my occasional, very basic attempts at strength training. I am the mother of two highly creative sons in their twenties who are finding their way through early adulthood in different states, which for me is bittersweet.
I am a genuine recovering control freak. I know what it is like to appear independent and in control while secretly hustling for validation from others. I used to cringe at the word “codependent” while relating to nearly every trait. The process of grieving, accepting, and letting go of this way of being has been brutally challenging and enormously freeing. This sense of inner freedom is what I am called to help others find. The hard truth is that the brutality of the process is often part of the way forward, but we do not have to walk that path alone. Your path will be your own, but the range of emotions you encounter is universal.
As a therapist, I work primarily with people approaching middle age and older who are facing life changes that disrupt their stability and render old coping patterns ineffective. Together, we often find that boundaries need strengthening, self-esteem needs rebuilding, and deeper healing is both possible and deserved. This work opens the door to stepping fully into the wholeness of who you truly are.
If you are reeling from a life change or many life changes and finding that the usual sources of support and self-care are no longer enough, I can absolutely relate. My mission is to help you discover a new way forward.
